Coaching is partnering with an individual to help them unlock their personal and/ or professional potential. Coaching helps individuals get out of their own way to find their own success and reach their goals.
Coaching isn’t mentoring, teaching, therapy or training. It is not directive: as a coach I don’t tell clients what to do.
I'm not a performance coach. While working with me might help you be better at a job or in your business, it's because we've focused on you and what makes you tick. When we work together, I support you to identify what's important to you, based on your values, explore your strengths, and live intentionally.
As a coach, I create a space for you to think and explore deeply, that you may find hard to prioritise in your everyday life. I do this by:
Partnering with a client to help them navigate through the choppy waters of change.
Listening - not leading - the client to find their answers.
Maybe using tools and techniques to help their client explore beyond the edges of their current map of life, and find the right direction for them.
In a world of uncertainty, coaching can help you find direction, discover solutions, and chart a path forward while avoiding burnout.
Please note: coaching doesn’t guarantee success, and you get out what you put in. Coaching is only as powerful as the person doing the thinking.
Here are a few tips to make the most of coaching, if we work together. You will want to be at your best, so we can start to dig into what you want to change through coaching, and get creative with your thinking:
Are you clear on what has brought you to coaching?
Are you open about how coaching might help you make changes in your life?
I recently read a great blog by coach Clare Norman, setting out how you can make the best of coaching. Have a read of 'How do you show up to coaching?' on Clare's blog.
Are you in a space where you can talk freely, with minimal distractions or interruptions?
Have you got something to take notes with?
Are you hydrated, have you eaten recently, have you got a drink with you?
As a coach I abide by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) Code of Ethics. Anything you tell me is confidential, meaning I don't share what we discuss with anyone, even if they know you are having coaching with me,. I may discuss issues that come up during our coaching sessions with my own coach, therapist, mentor or in coaching supervision. These would always be anonymous, and only for the purpose of improving my coaching practice, and better support you and other clients.
The only exceptions where I would break confidentiality would be if I believe there is a risk of harm to you or someone else, or if I’m required to by law. I would always let you know if this is the case.
I maintain and store records electronically, and in line with the UK’s data protection laws. This includes financial records, and any notes I may take during our sessions. I am registered with the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). My ICO Registration number is C11226200.
As I'm always working towards ICF accreditation or re-accreditation, I could be audited by the ICF. They would want to see my basic records - name, contact details, number of sessions - of clients, and may want to contact you to confirm sessions happened.
I expect you'll need time to think after our call. I will email you the details of how we can work together after our call - check your spam! I'll nudge you a week or two after if I don't hear from you, and then again one month later. After that I'll leave it for you to get back in touch if you'd like to work together.
If you would like to work with me, I will send you a contract, invoice and a booking link for your sessions. The contract will be sent via DocHub for easy signing (so check your spam!). I can accept payment by bank transfer or credit card. If you would prefer to pay in instalments, let me know and I can set this up for you.

To get the most out of coaching, and to allow space and time to process the insights and thoughts that have come up in sessions, I recommend sessions are no more than two weeks apart. The reflection and thinking between sessions is often where the ‘magic’ happens.
I also recommend finding a time where you do your best thinking when thinking about session times, though I appreciate work, caring responsibilities, volunteering or hobbies may restrict this.
If we go ahead, I’d ask you to book in all the sessions at the time you make payment. You can of course reschedule: ideally you’d give me at least a working day’s notice. Life happens! However, I only have the capacity to reschedule a session twice, after that you forfeit that session.
My rates are £750 for six (6) sessions and £500 for four (4) sessions, for an individual self-funding. If you are able to pay upfront, I offer a small reduction: six (6) sessions are £720, and four (4) sessions are £480.
If your organisation is paying, please see my information for employers.
Full - or first - payment - is required before the first session. Payment can be by bank transfer or credit card (Stripe).
If you go ahead you have a statutory right to cancel an agreement within 14 days of signing the contract and paying.
If at any time you’re not getting what you need from this, and would like to end our agreement early, we can discuss that before your next session. Depending on the circumstances, a proportional refund may be available.
You have up to six (6) months from the date of the first session to complete your sessions.
If you need to reschedule, please give as much notice as you can. Life happens, I know that. However, if you have to rescheduled a session more than twice, you will forfeit that session.
If you have a compliment or complaint, please let me know. I always want to hear both compliments and complaints, and have the opportunity to put right anything you have an issue with.
I will aim to acknowledge your complaint within three working days, and have a full response within 28 working days.
You can email your complaint to: jo@jogibney.co.uk
